The farm is fully mechanized for land preparations, fertilizer application, seed sowing, irrigation, intercultural operations, application of slurry, harvesting, collection of crops etc. About 171 acres of irrigated land is cultivated for growing different fodder crops like Maize, Oats, Berseem,Alfa-alfa, Sugarbeet, Sorghum etc. to cater to the requirement of good quality roughages for the herd round the year. Almost all the operations in fodder farm are mechanized. Irrigation of fodder crops is done with sprinklers and reel irrigation system, which helps in economizing the use of water. The operations like silage distribution and dung slurry transportation have been mechanized with the use of Silage cutters and Liquid manure spreaders, respectively. Despite the challenges posed by adverse climate and soil salinity, ABC Salon farm produced2733 MT green fodder last year surpassing the production in previous years. Out of this, 501 MT green fodder was conserved as hay and 68 MT as silage to ensure round the year supply of quality roughages to bulls maintained at the semen station.fa-alfa, Sugarbeet, Sorghum etc. to cater to the requirement of good quality roughages for the herd round the year.
